Hello, and welcome to the new North Country Film Festival webpage!
This site is the new home of the North Country Film Festival, a small festival in the town of Potsdam in upstate New York. In conjunction with the Roxy Movie Theater, our goal is to bring classic films, independent features, and student and local short films to the upstate community, while providing a venue for amateur filmmakers to screen their works and compete for cash prizes.
We invite you to take a look around as we prepare for our third annual festival, to be held on April 23rd-25th, 2010. In previous years, we’ve held film screenings to packed-beyond-capacity houses, always to great delight and enjoyment, and intend on continuing on for our third annual festival. The typical list of events includes local films, a midnight movie (always a popular one), a short film competition, with prizes going to Best Student, Local, and Overall Films, independent features with a Q&A from the visiting director, and a series of classic films with period shorts, newsreels, and live music pre-show entertainment. All our events are always free and open to the public.
Here on the website, we’ll be updating you with information and press on our most recent festivals, along with links and videos to the films mentioned. We’ll also provide downloads for submission forms for short film competition entries along with donation and sponsorship forms. It’s been our delight to serve the North Country community and the filmmaking world in hosting this event, and we hope you enjoy your time here.
